Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make Eyes on Main the leading provider of vision care products and services in Boyne City.

Peter Oppermann, O.D.

Grayling High School graduate with honors.

Bachelors of Vision Science: 1995 Ferris State University with honors.

Doctorate 1998 Michigan College of Optometry with honors.

Dr. Oppermann specializes in the eye health examination of patients of all ages, including the management of complicated eye disease as well as recommendation of all forms of eye wear.

He is the father of two children, enjoys downhill skiing, hunting, boating, fishing and various other outdoor activities.

Dr. Oppermann is an active member of the Rotary Club of Gaylord, the Michigan Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He also serves as an Administrator for Vision Source of Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

Nathan R. Slezak, O.D.

Bachelor of Science, 2006 Central Michigan University.

Doctorate of Optometry 2010 with Highest Distinction, Michigan College of Optometry

Dr. Slezak specializes in eye health examinations for patients of all ages including pediatrics, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and corneal disease. He currently fits most of our specialty contact lenses.

Dr. Slezak enjoys coaching athletics, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife and 3 kids.

Lindsey Wynkoop, O.D.

Lindsey Wynkoop, O.D. received her bachelor’s degree in Vision Science from Ferris State University and her doctorate at the Michigan College of Optometry.

She moved to the Fiji Islands in 2012 to pursue a position in educating and training general doctors and nurses from all over the Pacific Island at the Pacific Eye Institute.

Dr. Wynkoop provides comprehensive eye care services including: primary ocular health assessment, glaucoma management, ocular surface disease, pre/post-operative surgical care, and specialty contact lens fitting.

Dr. Wynkoop returned to Michigan in 2017 to join our practice.

Ronald Mead, O.D.

Undergraduate: Central Michigan University, Ferris State University

Doctor of Optometry: Ferris State College of Optometry

Married to Lori, childen: Jason, Kristin, Cameron and Trevor.

Dr. Mead’s professional associations include the Michigan Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He serves as a Vision Source Adminstrator for Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. His professional associations include the Michigan Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.

Hobbies include: Golf, computer.

Robert Slezak, O.D.

Bachelor of Science in Education, 1975 Central Michigan University.

Graduate work in Biology 1976-1980.

Doctorate 1985 (FSU) Michigan College of Optometry – Valedictorian of his graduating class.

Dr. Bob Slezak semi-retired in May 2016, but will be available on an as needed basis.

Dr. Slezak specializes in eye health examinations for patients of all ages, including complicated eye diseases. He also recommends all forms of eye wear.

He is married to Mary, has 2 sons, Ryan and Nathan, and a growing number of grandchildren. He is an avid fly fisherman and golfer. He taught high school for 6 years before becoming an optometrist.

Dr. Slezak is a member of the Kiwanis Club of Gaylord. His professional associations include the Michigan Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. He serves as an Administrator for Vision Source of Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

Bridget Peck

Bridget has over two decades of optical experience.

Bridget’s responsibilities include helping a patient choose their personal eyewear that best meet their visual needs, verify prescriptions, order frames, lenses and contact lenses. She also dispenses eyewear and contact lenses.

Bridget also instructs new contact lens wearers on how to insert, remove and handle their new contact lenses. She works directly with our frame and lens representatives to make sure that Eyes on Main carries the latest styles and trends in frames and lenses.

Bridget is married and enjoys time with her children and grandchildren.

Trudy Hausler

Trudy has many years’ experience as an insurance biller. She began working at Eyes on Main in 2002. Trudy is responsible for billing insurance for all of our locations.  She is well-known throughout the northern Michigan region among Vision Source as a billing expert and is called upon for her knowledge in this field.

Trudy is married with three children and recently had her first grandchild.

Kami Knopp, CPOA

Kami began working for Bellaire Eye Center / Gaylord Eye Care Center / Eyes on Main in 1991. She is a Certified Paraoptometric Assistant and the Office Coordinator.

Kami is the office manager at Gaylord Eye Care Center and works in all three of our offices. Kami does billing and front desk duties, as well as assisting with frame selections and repairs. She also instructs patients on how to insert and remove contact lenses, as well as working directly with our contact lens representatives and companies to make sure that we are up to date on the latest in contact lens trends.

Kami has extensive training on all levels of preliminary testing, including slit lamp evaluation of contact lenses, topography, optical coherence tomography and retinal photography. She also does intra-ocular pressures, corneal measurements, visual fields and visual acuities.

She is married with three children. She enjoys reading and bowling.

Angela Kleinschrodt

Angela joined our office in 2017 as part of our “Directors of First Impressions” team. She is responsible for greeting our patients and guests as they arrive, gathering any information necessary to make sure that our patients have a great experience while in our office.

Angela also works at preparing records for patient exams, checking insurance eligibility, scheduling appointments and referrals.

Married to Kurt with two children Zachery, and Kirsten. When not working Angela enjoys spending time with her family camping, riding dirt bikes and four wheeling as a family.

Tina DeJarlais

Tina is not originally from the Boyne City area but is proud to call this town her home. She’s a strong advocate for professional patient care and loves keeping up with the latest trends.

Her busy life revolves around six children and five grandkids. Tina enjoys life with her partner Glen, time spent with family, boating, traveling, rock concerts, cooking, and socializing in the community. You’ll always find her smiling and happy to assist you.

Julie Kerr

Julie Kerr Julie Kerr was born and raised here in Boyne City. She joined the Eyes on Main family in 2020. She is the optometric technician who performs any necessary testing with the patients before seeing the doctor. She is also training at the front desk to help schedule appointments, preparing records for exams, and checking insurance eligibility.

She is married to Thomas Kerr and they have 3 boys. When not at work, Julie enjoys spending time with her family, camping, reading, and traveling.
